Installation Guidelines For Oxel
Silencers
These recommendations are per ASTM E477
Standards and should be followed as a “guideline” to allow our
silencers to perform to the E477 specifications as shown in our catalog
·
Elbows or aspect changes can
be used in line with our silencers but if they are within 10 diameters
upstream or down stream of the silencer face you must add one head loss to
the pressure drop for each occurrence. Failure to observe this rule does not
allow for “static regain”.
·
If elbows with straitening
vanes are used within the 10-diameter rule add only 1/2 of a head loss per
occurrence.
·
Transitions attached to our
silencers must not exceed a 30° approach or departure angle. Transitions
with more extreme angles will also add one head loss per occurrence.
Transitions with less than 30° angles will add approximately 0.10” to the
total system drop.
·
Silencers close coupled to
Vane Axial fans will experience a higher-pressure drop than shown in the
catalog and should be calculated as a transition and /or elbow. All
silencers on the inlet side of a vane axial fan should have their spiral
twist in the opposite direction to the blade rotation. On the exhaust side
the silencers should have their spiral twist in the same direction of the
blade rotation. Please specify at time of order.
·
Please use all provided
connection points in your installation. Our silencers are structurally
engineered to use all mounting holes provided. This will also insure a
complete seal.
